Blackboard App

1. Introduction

Blackboard App extends and enriches the MyBeckett student experience by allowing students and tutors to access modules wherever and whenever, through a mobile friendly interface. You can download it from:

App Store (iOS 9.0+)
Play Store (Android 4.2+)
Microsoft Store (Windows 10+)

2. Blackboard App features

Important: All of the features listed below are only available to students if you've created them in a module. Currently, this can only be done via a web browser, either on a desktop or on a mobile device. E.g. You can't create mobile tests via the app.

a. Mobile Compatible Test

Students are able to answer quizzes and sit exams on their mobile devices. You might use this to do a quick poll in a seminar, or have students test their knowledge of week 1 teaching by answering a short quiz. To create a quiz, view our guide.

b. Notifications

Students get automatic, personalised notifications on their mobile devices to help them stay informed. Notifications include new announcements, marks and feedback, new content etc. This means that module activity comes to them.

c. Announcements

Assignment due? Seminar cancelled? If students know what's going on, they're more likely to become (and stay) engaged.

d. Marks and Feedback

Students can find out how they did on their last test or assignment by using the Grades tool. They’re sent a notification as soon as one of their submissions is marked.

e. Discussions

Discussion Boards are great for engaging students. They can ask and answer questions of each other, and tutors can respond to guide and encourage them. Students can upload media attachments to Discussions from a mobile device.

f. Content

Students can access and interact with content uploaded by tutors. PowerPoint, PDF and Excel documents are displayed within the app.

g. Blogs

Students can read Blog posts and interact with each other by posting comments and uploading attachments to Blogs.

h. Journals

Students can reflect on their module Journals and comment on peer journals.

3. Student guidance

Our students can find support and guidance for mobile apps on the Library website.
