Get started with PebblePad v5


1. Introduction

This guide provides an overview of PebblePad version 5, which replaced version 3 for all users on 1 August 2017. During the upgrade, existing PebblePad content was migrated into the new version. Note, some users had already been using version 5 for a while.

This change will not affect the ATLAS assessment space used by staff.


2. What is PebblePad?

PebblePad is an e-portfolio system, providing a personal learning space where users can record and reflect upon their learning. PebblePad have created a series of short videos to help you get started.

Students can use PebblePad to create rich content such as multi-page portfolios, single pages and blogs to showcase their work. 

Get creative options

They can start from scratch by clicking Get Creative, or use a template from the Resources Store.

Over time, your students will build a list of assets that they have worked on. They can tag each asset to make it easier to find related content at a later date.

Everything your students create in PebblePad is private until they choose to share it. Sharing options include submitting for assessment, publishing to the web, or providing a link for individuals or groups.

3. What's new in v5?

Intuitive navigation
The new interface is clean and user-friendly. The menu icon (three bars) at the top left provides quick access to assets, resources, file uploads and PebblePad help materials.

Improved editing tools
It is now easier to add a variety of content, such as banners, text boxes, images and videos. When you have added a content item, you can click and drag to position these on a page.

The upgrade to PebblePad v5 also enables drag and drop file uploads for added convenience.

Improved user interface across devices
PebblePad v5 provides a consistent look and feel across devices. It uses HTML5 technology, making it fully compatible with mobile devices.
