QuickMarks Manager


1. Introduction

This guide introduces the QuickMark Manager in Feedback Studio and shows you how to create and update QuickMark sets. Other guides are also available to help you with QuickMarks:

What are QuickMarks?
QuickMarks are feedback comments that you can save and reuse across Turnitin assignments as appropriate. 

What are QuickMark sets?
QuickMark sets are groups of QuickMarks. You can create multiple QuickMark sets, for example a set relevant to a specific course or level of study. Feedback Studio provides a number of built-in QuickMark settings, including Composition, Composition Marks, Format, Punctuation, and Usage.


2. Access the QuickMark Manager

You can access the QuickMark Manager from MyBeckett or Feedback Studio.

a. In MyBeckett, go to the assignment in question and click View Assignment.

b. In the Tools section, click the QuickMark icon. This looks like a checkbox.

c. The QuickMark Manager will open in MyBeckett.

Access the QuickMark Manager in Feedback Studio

a. In Feedback Studio, click the QuickMark icon from the tools panel on the right. It looks like a checkbox.

b. Click the cog icon in the QuickMark side panel.

c. The QuickMark Manager will open.

3. Create a QuickMark set in MyBeckett

a. Access the QuickMark Manager via MyBeckett.

b. Click the plus icon at the top of the Sets list.

c. Type a name for the QuickMark set, then click Save.

d. Select your new QuickMark set from the Sets list.

e. Click the plus icon at the top of the Marks list to add a new QuickMark to the set.

f. Type a label and description for the QuickMark, then click Save at the top right.

Note: you can also create QuickMarks whilst leaving feedback on an assignment, for example if you think a comment may be suitable to reuse in the future. More information about this is available in our leaving feedback guide.


4. Create a QuickMark set in Feedback Studio

a. Access the QuickMark Manager via Feedback Studio.

b. Click the menu icon (three lines) at the top left, then click Create New Set from the drop-down menu.

c. Type a name for the QuickMark set, then click Save.

d. Click the menu icon at the top left, then select your new QuickMark set from the drop-down list. It will be empty.

e. To start adding QuickMarks, click the plus icon or click Create QuickMark.

f. You can then type a label and description for the QuickMark. The description can include hyperlinks, as well as some basic text formatting.

g. Click Save to add your new QuickMark to the set.

Note: you can also create QuickMarks whilst leaving feedback on an assignment, for example if you think a comment may be suitable to reuse in the future. More information about this is available in our leaving feedback guide.



5. Edit a QuickMark

Important: Any changes that you make to a QuickMark will affect every instance of the QuickMark within student submissions. You can only edit QuickMarks that you created, those with a lock icon cannot be modified.

a. Access the QuickMark Manager and locate the QuickMark that you want to edit.

b. If you are editing the QuickMark via Feedback Studio, click the pencil icon to the top right of the QuickMark. Make your changes and click Save.

c. If you are editing the QuickMark via MyBeckett, click the Edit button to the top right of the QuickMark. Make your changes and click Save.


6. Archive a QuickMark

Important: When you archive a QuickMark, it will be removed from all sets and assignments. You can restore QuickMarks that you have archived if needed.

a. Access the QuickMark Manager and locate the QuickMark you want to archive.

b. If you are archiving the QuickMark via Feedback Studio, click the Archive button below the QuickMark label and description.

c. If you are archiving the QuickMark in MyBeckett, click the Actions button, then Other, and then click Archive.

Note: To restore an archived QuickMark, select the Archived QuickMark set, locate the QuickMark and click Restore.
